Psalms and Worry

Psa 37:8-9  Refrain from anger, and forsake wrath! Fret not yourself; it tends only to evil.  For the wicked shall be cut off; but those who wait for the LORD shall possess the land.Yet a little while, and the wicked will be no more; though you look well at his place, he will not be there.  But the meek shall possess the land, and delight themselves in abundant prosperity.

Psalm 27 speaks of waiting for the Lord, this one also does and says what will happen to those who do.  Our Lord speaks of the meek again in Mathew 5:5, repeating what is said here of them coming to possess the land.

What I also noted about this one is what it has to say about worry - it tends only to evil. It doesn't say it usually does or that it can tends only to evil, it says it does tend only to evil.  How frequently do we worry about tomorrow and suffer today?  What an evil trick we play on ourselves.  Even if it never comes to pass, we've managed to worry ourselves into suffering.  I have a vivid imagination and can come up with all sorts of things to worry about.

I am strong willed, impatient, and tend to worry, so I have a lot of work to do!
