Path of the Wicked

Pro 4:14-19  Do not enter the path of the wicked, and do not walk in the way of evil men. Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.  For they cannot sleep unless they have done wrong; they are robbed of sleep unless they have made some one stumble.  For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.   But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.  The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

Again, it is telling us to not enter the path of the wicked.  What is this path of the wicked?  It must be their way of life, how they carry out their day to day business.  We are surrounded by this path if we just look around.  Profit overrides moral responsibility.  Politics are more important than doing the right thing.  These are the wrong paths.

Avoid it; do not go on it; turn away from it and pass on.

Don't even go near it, as it is a trap.

Sir 21:10  The way of sinners is smoothly paved with stones, but at its end is the pit of Hades.

For they eat the bread of wickedness and drink the wine of violence.

The literal meaning is that the food they gain is from their wickedness, but it made me think about how often immoral people seem to take their energy from their immoral behavior.  It feeds them and drives them and compels them to further evil action.

Pro 1:22  "How long, O simple ones, will you love being simple? How long will scoffers delight in their scoffing and fools hate knowledge?

Scoffers delight in their scoffing and evil feeds on its own evil.

But the path of the righteous is like the light of dawn, which shines brighter and brighter until full day.

The path toward God is well lit!  We are able to see obstacles in our path and prevent falling with God's wisdom.

The way of the wicked is like deep darkness; they do not know over what they stumble.

They don't even know why it is going poorly for them.  They can't see, because they lack the wisdom of God.

Rom 1:20-21  Ever since the creation of the world his invisible nature, namely, his eternal power and deity, has been clearly perceived in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse; for although they knew God they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking and their senseless minds were darkened.
