We are to set our sights on eternity and not worry about our lot here in this life. The time we spend on this planet is inconsequential to the time we will spend after we die. Eternity is a very long time, even compared to our full life span.

Col 3:1 If ye then be risen with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ sitteth on the right hand of God.
Col 3:2 Set your affection on things above, not on things on the earth.

We must remain focused on the price, which is not our next paycheck or bonus; not our next car or house. We should please ourselves with God above worldly posessions.

This doesn’t mean we can’t enjoy our possessions. God made creation and made it good. It is the misuse of creation and possessions or the poor prioritization of them over the eternal that is a problem.

1Ti 4:4 For every creature of God is good, and nothing to be refused, if it be received with thanksgiving:
1Ti 4:5 For it is sanctified by the word of God and prayer.
