Sin to Salvation

Loads of family drama in Genesis.  We haven't even gotten to the part where Joseph's brothers sell him as a slave and pretend he's dead to their dad. HA!

It is really amazing what God can work in the most problematic families.  There is nothing God can't do.  Thats really important to remember.  Not that I have a problematic family (though the sister that reads this blog is quite a handful - HI!), but it is true for all problematic situations.

Later, when Joseph's brothers find him running Egypt and saving a bunch of people from famine through his wisdom, including them, he tells them:

Gen 50:20  But as for you, ye thought evil against me; but God meant it unto good, to bring to pass, as it is this day, to save much people alive.

God brought good from their evil.  God used this evil against Joseph as a method to save His people.  I think that may be what they call a prefiguring - think of the evil done to Jesus and the great saving of His people!  While the evil done to Joseph led to the salvation from famine, the evil done to Jesus led to the salvation from sin!

Rom 8:28  And we know that all things work together for good to them that love God, to them who are the called according to his purpose.
