John 14:27 Peace I leave with you, my peace I give unto you: not as the world giveth, give I unto you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid.

How often do we look to Jesus and ask only for peace as defined by the world?  Of course that type of peace, the absence of conflict, is good. But if that is the type of peace the world has offered, then Jesus can provide something else.  We can have peace in the midst of conflict.

Are our hearts troubled?  Are we afraid?  We need not be.  What is the worst thing that could happen to us?  We die?  We suffer?  Nobody wants that.  But what would that be next to eternity?  Nothing.  Death is nothing next to eternity with the Lord.   If we keep our eyes fixed on Jesus, then everything here can take its proper place, because everything here is nothing next to Heaven.
